SBB 10th Annual Golf Classic The SBB 10th Annual Golf Classic held in September at Lantana Golf Club reached another fundraising record, netting approximately $105,000 for Children’s Cancer Fund, www.childrenscancerfund.com. This brings our ten year total to slightly more than $700,000, a nice sum for a small golf tournament. We continued our tradition of celebrity and notable guests at the Award Dinner, including Dr. Naomi Winick of Children’s Health and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, as well as pediatric cancer survivor Flick Blevins and his father Bryan. Their brief remarks were very touching and they were appreciative of the money generated by the tournament’s success. Scott Murray, former NBC Channel 5 Sports Anchor joined us again, although this time virtually, due to a schedule conflict. We still have some Friends of SBB 10th Annual Golf Classic t-shirts available for sale for $25.00. Sherri Schmoekel and I would like to thank our sixty-three generous sponsors, our fifty-two HOA Board member golfers, the golf planning committee, the SBB and Children’s Cancer Fund volunteers and the staff at Lantana Golf Club for their contributions and efforts in making this tournament successful. Tournament Sponsors and Winners Tournament Photos SBB Employee Highlight Senior Community Manager Lora Compton recently celebrated her 20 year anniversary with SBB Management Company.Lora graduated from UTEP in 1977 with a Bachelors of Business Degree with a major in marketing. Lora has been a licensed Real Estate agent for over 40 years and is a proud mother of 2 long haired Dachshunds. Lora oversees SBB's Keller office. Community Giving Some local children and generous residents from Hillcrest 121 Neighborhood made a big difference in their community recently. Following the Hillcrest 121 "Wags to Wheels 4th of July Parade" on June 27th, these kids gave back to the community by setting up a lemonade stand to quench thirsts and provide for pets at Operation Kindness, a no-kill animal shelter located in Carrollton, TX. Each year these big-hearted kiddos go to Kamp Kindness and come back excited and wanting to do something to help more animals! This year they surpassed their goal of over $1,000.00. Thank you to each HIllcrest 121 resident that showed their support!! So proud of these amazing kids and the common bond they share to care for animals! Payton, Parker, Avin, Alexi, Riley, Ashley, Delaney, Ian and Reeves raised $1,119.61 for Operation Kindness by turning lemonade to aid! Way to go kids and neighbors, you are making a difference.
